Once On This Island: A Review
Broadway Buddies Accessible Theatre Show
Directed by Elise Hackl
Big Deal Productions, in collaboration with North West Special Recreation Association is excited to present our Broadway Buddies Accessible Theatre Show, Once On This Island: A Review. This musical theatre favorite is an engaging, Caribbean-flavored musical, set on an unnamed island in the French Antilles. It’s the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love, and is told around a fire by a group of Caribbean peasants, as they wait out a terrible storm. Once On This Island uses the tradition of storytelling to pass down history, values and insight from one generation to the next. The result is a lesson to be passed along for generations to come. Ti Moune’s courage and spirit prove that love can withstand the storm, cross the Earth, and survive, even in the face of death. With rhythms of the Caribbean Islands, this show will be a favorite of audiences of all ages.
A performances will be held at the Community Arts Center on May 13 at 7 pm. All tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door, plus a 95¢ convenience fee. Tickets will be on sale at bigdealproductions.org starting on April 6. For information on group sales, accessible seating, or other questions, contact Jessi Hersman at 847.850.2152 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
